A NaPoWriMo challenge for Sunday April 18th, 2010

Some of the poems I write for NaPoWriMo really stink. I know yours are probably all fabulous but let’s write a poem about things we smell and let’s make sure that we give a smell to something that doesn’t have a smell attached to it… it could be love, it could be tragedy, it could be happiness etc. In a trip through olfactory roads, also give a feeling or concept to an identifiable smell. Everyone’s poetry stinks today…. Write on!!!!

Keep Writing.

The root of the word Poetry is from the Greek ποιέω (poieō), “‘I
make’”). , poiesis, meaning a “making” or ‘creation’

NaPoWriMo Poetry Challenge Prompt for April 8, 2010

Greetings,

Congratulations on sticking to the challenge of writing a poem every day in the month of April. If you write a poem every day, or every other day, if you are just joining the madness. . . congratulations. You can also catch up at any time and write poems for days you’ve skipped.

Remember to post your poems. Comment and link to them please.

Here’s your suggested writing prompt for April 8th, 2010.

DAY 8 NaPoWriMo PROMPT
Shakespeare is famous for writing many, many things– some have even become commonly used phrases. So use at least 2 of the more than 135 phrases Shakespeare takes credit for making famous in a poem. You can use many more if you would like (try 14 perhaps?) You’ll find a list of them right here: SHAKESPEARE PHRASES cut and paste into your browser if needed

I’ll post what I’ve come up with tomorrow.

Happy writing.

Christopher J. Jarmick is a Seattle based Author, very active in the Northwest Poetry Community. His latest book is called IGNITION; Poem Starters, Septolets, Statements & Double Dog Dares. Click on it to find out more about it.

Chris was the 20th member and the 1st to set up a Blog page on this site, last year during April’s NaPoWriMo. He’s also doing Script Frenzy (writing at least 100 pages of a Script) this month. He’s got many challenging prompts lined up for the rest of April ..

Erasers have muffled the shout.

The only illusion-proof mind -
A poet, the voice of despair,
Sincere, the one of this kind
Throws verses far into the air
Right there, in a dirty old flat
Among once great talents, now rotten.
They all have deserved more than that,
But even their names are forgotten.

April is national poetry month and with that comes the challenge to write a poem a day and keep the doctor away. Wait, what?

So we’re challenging you to pick up the gauntlet and write one poem a day, and not just one Haiku fill a page with poetry.

Since the boys over at NaNoWrimo are too busy with Scriptfrenzy – join us over on our NaPoWriMo group on the dash30dash ning and post your poems there!
