Napowrimo – Poetry Challenge – Day 7 – Why We Do It
It’s been a long day, I usually have these done way in advance. But today engulfed me, made me bend to it’s whims. Though I had fun doing, I was whisked away by a friend and taken to a private screening of ‘Butterflies‘ – a documentary about youtube. So here I am, gonna crank this out. I’ll post the Day 6 top 5 tomorrow when I wake up.

Your seventh Naporwrimo Poetry Challenge is:
Why We Do It.
Speaking of movies in the movie ‘Seven‘ Morga Freeman’s character William Somerset isn’t the most profound of characters… though “People don’t want a hero, they want to eat cheeseburgers, play the lotto and watch television.” does make me chuckle a little bit.
However the author Freeman’s character get his name from W. Somerset Maugham is full of some great quotes. (he’s also one of my favorite authors).
One particular quote that has always stuck with me was this
We do not write because we want to; we write because we have to.
- So use your poem to tell us, why you do. Why do you write? What drives you, what goal do you see ahead of you, where will it take you?
