Napowrimo – Poetry Challenge – Day 24 – A Not So Ancient Mariner

    Hey Folks,

Goooooood Morning Napwrimo-ists! I feel like a pre Misses Doubtfire Robin Williams right now. Probably because it’s nearing on 3am as I’m writing this and I’ve got no obligations till 7pm tomorrow. It’s like the weekend has come early for me! Not to rub your nose’s in it. Hey in this day and age, be glad you have a job to grumble over and head into in the wee hours of the morning.
The moral of the story is don’t write these things at 3am without a big shovel for hole digging. Let’s move on.

Today I challenge you to write a ballad. A story in poetic form. Obviously you’re not going to write an epic like The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. But try to weave a tale, with a beginning Middle and End and consider story elements:

    • does your character have a goal?
    • does s/he achieve something
    • Does s/he change?

I know it sounds like a lot, but give it a whirl in your Twenty Forth Poetry Challenge:

    A Not So Ancient Mariner

    • Write a Poetic Tale!

    Have fun!

    • Leave a link to your Day 24 napowrimo poem below – (it doesn’t have to be inspired by the challenge).

    • Don’t have a blog? join our community and get a free blog where you can post your poem(s).
